[Recommended General Education Courses] Unboxing an Interdisciplinary Learning Journey: General Education Panorama × Semiconductors! ✨

Greetings to NTU undergraduate students,

It's course selection season again! Are you curious which exciting courses are worth adding to your course list?

In the 114-2 semester, a total of 240 General Education courses will be offered, including 19 brand-new courses with diverse and enriching content. We’ve specially recommended two major new series—General Education Panorama and Semiconductor Interdisciplinary Course—and warmly invite you to enroll!

I. General Education Panorama Series: Starting from the 114 academic year, General Education 5.0 has been introduced to guide students toward a macro-level understanding of the General Education curriculum.

📘 “General Education A3 Panorama: World Civilization and Globalization”【2 credits | Prof. Hui-Hung Chen】

Through interdisciplinary lectures, this course helps students understand how world civilizations have shaped contemporary global issues. It is ideal for students who wish to broaden their international perspective and enhance critical thinking skills.

II. Semiconductor Interdisciplinary Course Series: Designed specifically for students without a semiconductor background, this series is suitable for those interested in STEM fields or industry-related topics as an introduction to interdisciplinary learning. The courses are divided into three modules:

Introductory Courses Introductory semiconductor courses designed for interdisciplinary learners.

📘 “Overview of Semiconductor Technology”【2 credits | Prof. Lin-Chi Chen et al.】

📘 “Basics of Physics and Fabrication about Semiconductors”【3 credits | Prof. Ming-Feng Shih, Prof. Man-kit Leung】

Materials × Processes Explore the critical role of materials in semiconductor manufacturing processes; some courses include hands-on practice in cleanroom environments.

📘 “Introduction to Semiconductor Chemical Supply Chain”【3 credits | Prof. Ying-Chih Liao】

📘 “Semiconductor Processes and Technologies”【3 credits | Prof. Cheng-Che Hsu】

📘 “Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes and Equipment”【3 credits | Prof. Chien-Fu Chen】

📙 Extended Recommendation: “Electronic Properties of Materials”【3 credits | Prof. Miin-Jang Chen】 (Non-GE course)

Smart Manufacturing This module introduces core concepts of smart manufacturing and develops analytical and reflective skills through case studies and projects.

📘 “Introduction to Smart Manufacturing and Data Analytics”【3 credits | Prof. Chao-Chieh Lan et al.】

📙 Extended Recommendation: “Process Data Learning”【2 credits | Prof. Jakey Blue et al.】 (Non-GE course)
