This course is tailor-made for international students who are learning Chinese as a second/foreign language.
Learning to write for academic purposes is an essential part of higher education. Academic writing is more than putting thoughts into words; it requires logic thinking and reading strategies to achieve effective communication and contribute to knowledge building. Integrating reading into academic writing, this course will use authentic materials to introduce students to various genres and writing skills. In-class writing activities and assignments will provide students with opportunities to develop their repertoire of Chinese academic writing.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an insightful understanding of the principles and approaches to academic writing;
- Write confidently in Chinese in different genres of academic writing.
