● Introduction
As generative AI tools become increasingly integrated into academic and creative work, a critical distinction emerges: is AI used merely as an instrumental tool, or does it function as an assistive collaborator? This differentiation has profound implications for copyright ownership, academic integrity, and disclosure obligations. To qualify for legal protection, creators must identify their human contributions by the requirement of human authorship under copyright law. This lecture adopts a user-centered approach to examine how to evaluate AI involvement, disclose human-AI task divisions, and determine AI use's legal and ethical implications across different contexts. Through case studies, it offers practical strategies for managing legal risks, clarifying authorship, and reinforcing trust in scholarly communication.
This lecture covers academic ethics courses in Category 1 for 2 hours. From the Academic Year of 2018, graduate and doctoral students must cover at least three categories of academic ethics courses in 6 hours. Participants should supplement their academic ethics course study time on their own.
