The NTU System is composed of National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science & Technology, and National Taiwan Normal University. Its origin can be traced back to an initiative on June 10, 2014, which led to its establishment as the NTU Alliance on January 7, 2015. On March 31, 2016, the System was officially approved by the Ministry of Education and given its current name. Since the fall term of Academic Year 2014, members of the Alliance/System open a matching number of seats in its own courses to those offered by other members. Updated news concerning Liberal Education seats offered by Taiwan Tech and NTNU to NTU students and the exact core area they pertain to will be publicized each term in the NTU course catalog.
NTU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding inter-collegiate courses offered in cooperation with National Taipei University of Education; since the Fall term of Academic Year 2014, members will open a matching number of seats in Liberal Education courses to the sister institution.
