Hsing-Chien Tuan, Chairman, was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of National Taiwan University in 2021. Looking back on his career, in 1990, he returned to Taiwan to establish Unipac Optoelectronics, the first TFT-LCD company in Taiwan. In 2001, after merging with BenQ, the company was renamed AU Optronics (2409-TW), and he served as its president. Later, at the request of Foxconn (2317-TW) founder Terry Gou, he established InnoLux Corporation and acquired CHIMEI and TPO, setting the record for the largest acquisition in Taiwan's history. In 2016, he went to Japan to assist Sharp in turning around its business. In recent years, he has devoted himself to learning and applying AI, IoT, and automation, and will continue to contribute to the field of smart manufacturing in the future. He also hopes to have the opportunity to apply AI to research on air pollution.
