l   About the Speaker:

Pierre Chen is the Founder and Chairman of YAGEO Group, who also chairs Tong Hsing Electronic Industries and Advanced Power Electronics, both publicly listed companies in Taiwan. Since founding YAGEO in 1986, Chairman Chen has led the company to become a global leader in electronics components. Under his leadership, YAGEO has not only developed advanced material technology but also expanded internationally via cross-border acquisitions. Notable milestones include acquiring the passive component business of Philips, as well as the previously NASDAQ-listed US firms KEMET and Pulse Electronics, both renowned global technology names with a century of innovation. In 2023, Chairman Chen received the “Distinguished Achievement Award” from MAPECT Taiwan. With his strong pursuit of innovation, Chairman Chen successfully elevated Taiwan’s talent, industrial competency, and scale of operation to an international level while transferring the R&D capacity back to Taiwan. His company also stands as the only passive component player with an investment-grade credit rating. Today, YAGEO has 45,000 employees and 61 manufacturing sites across 35 countries, with Chairman Chen ranked second on Harvard Business Review’s Top 100 CEOs in Taiwan. In addition to his business success, Chairman Chen is also strongly committed to social and educational endeavors. For example, in 2009, he supported fundraising for the reconstruction efforts of southern Taiwan after Typhoon Morakot. In 2024, he donated dedicated funds to support disaster relief and subsequent reconstruction efforts following the April 3rd earthquake in Hualien. Additionally, he has long been committed to philanthropic activities, bringing educational resources to children in remote areas to help them break free from poverty. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by National Sun Yat-sen University in 2021 and named 2022 Outstanding Alumnus by his alma mater, National Cheng Kung University, among many honors. Chairman Chen’s monumental role in shaping the electronics industry in Taiwan and in this world underscores a lasting legacy.
