● Introduction
Research misconduct has been plaguing and, in fact, getting worse over the last few decades in practically all domains of knowledge pursuit. As a result, paper retraction has almost become a norm rather than an anomaly. High-profile cases are widely reported, and severe punishments are imposed on some elite institutions. Yet students and research professionals are often, knowingly or unknowingly, unaware of the causes, means, damages, and grave consequences of research misconduct. This talk addresses these issues through storytelling to help students, postdocs, and PIs understand what research misconduct is and to provide general guidelines for conducting research responsibly.
This lecture will count as 3 hours of NTU academic ethics courses (1 hour each in Categories 1, 2, and 5) and will award a study certificate upon completion.
