115-1 Liberal Education Course Teaching Assistant Hiring and Teaching Activity Assistance Fee Reimbursement Instructions

Note: The following instructions are for teachers who have applied for the "Project for the Improvement of Liberal Education." Teachers who missed the deadline and wish to reapply should contact the project coordinator, Ms. Chan, at (02) 3366-2545 #231.

Teaching Assistant Hiring Regulations:

1. Teaching Assistant Hiring Dates:

The project implementation period is the first semester of the 115th academic year. The earliest hiring date is September 1th, starting on the actual work date. The latest hiring end date can be set to December 31th. Full salary will be paid from September to December.

2. Hiring Method:

August 4, teachers can log in to the Teaching Assistant Management System of the Office of Academic Affairs to set up teaching assistant employment information (Attachment 1) , please print double-sided., please use a paperclip to secure the top left corner. After completing the data setup, please print and sign the employment application form, contract (in duplicate), and relevant identity documents. Submit them to the center three working days before the start date of the hiring period  (excluding holidays) to complete the hiring procedures.
To facilitate smooth administrative processing, please complete the hiring procedures no later than 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28. Late submissions will not be accepted. We kindly ask for your attention and cooperation. Thank you.

 

Those who have not yet obtained the teaching assistant qualification certification must register for the online certification training course for teaching assistants. If you intend to hire foreign students or overseas Chinese students as teaching assistants, please attach a valid work permit for the intended student, covering the entire hiring period. If I am a foreign national, I agree that, in accordance with Articles 8 and 89 of the Income Tax Act, where my stay in Taiwan does not reach 183 days (calculated cumulatively within the same tax year), my salary shall be subject to withholding tax at the rate of 6% or 18% pursuant to Article 3 of the Standards of Withholding Rates for Various Incomes. I have confirmed my days of residence and will declare the same in accordance with the regulations. In the event of any negligence resulting in additional tax payments or penalties, I shall bear all related costs and expenses myself.

 

Teaching assistants can be employed only after being approved by this center, having insurance processed by the Personnel Office, and completing relevant procedures. Labor insurance starts from the actual employment date and cannot be backdated. For health insurance, only those who work more than 12 hours per week are eligible. The university will not process health insurance for those who work less than 12 hours per week. In the event of contract termination due to resignation or other factors, the procedures for resignation and insurance cancellation must be completed.

 

To align with the university's policy on employing people with disabilities, it is encouraged to prioritize hiring students with disabilities as teaching assistants.

3. Teaching Assistant Remuneration:

o    Chinese-taught courses: PhD students: NT$8,000-10,000 per month; Master's students: NT$6,000-7,500 per month; Bachelor's students: NT$4,000-6,000 per month.

o    EMI courses: PhD students: NT$12,000 per month; Master's students: NT$9,500 per month; Bachelor's students: NT$7,000 per month.

 

According to the "Teaching Assistant Attendance Management Reminders and Suggestions" from the Office of Academic Affairs, the average hourly wage must not be less than the basic hourly wage of NT$196 announced by the Ministry of Labor, with a maximum of 40 working hours per month. Teaching assistants must accurately fill in the sign-in and sign-out sheets. Teachers are responsible for managing and supervising and should keep the sign-in and sign-out sheets for the university's audit office and labor inspection.

 

Remuneration Disbursement: For those who complete a full month, the remuneration will be deposited by the 15th of the following month. For those who do not complete a full month, the remuneration will be paid based on actual working hours and the average hourly wage specified in the contract. Teaching assistants must provide their working hours at the end of the month for remuneration processing.

 

Regulations for Reimbursement of Teaching Activity Assistance Fees:

1. Lecture Fee Reimbursement:

 

For Chinese-taught courses, the plan subsidizes the lecture fees for external experts and scholars (Attachment 2), with a maximum of 2 sessions per course and NT$2,500 per session, reimbursed based on the approved number of sessions.

 

For EMI courses, the plan subsidizes lecture fees (Attachment 3), with a maximum of 2 sessions per course and NT$2,000 per hour per session, reimbursed based on the approved number of sessions.

 

For reimbursement, please attach relevant lecture materials. The receipt (Attachment 4) can be stapled to the reimbursement form. For detailed reimbursement methods, please refer to the attachments.

2. Off-campus Visit Fee Reimbursement:

 

The plan subsidizes off-campus visit fees (Attachment 5) for transportation or insurance costs, with a maximum of 2 visits per course and  NT$2,500 per visit,  reimbursed based on the approved number of visits.

 

For reimbursement, invoices or receipts must be attached, with the NTU tax ID number (03734301) included. For detailed reimbursement methods, please refer to the attachments.

 

Note: All reimbursements will be processed by the teaching assistant. For Chinese-taught courses, use the expense code 115L6075; for EMI courses, use the expense code 115M4039-04. Submit the reimbursement form to the Co-Teaching Center before the end of the semester.

 Note: Due to the large volume of accounting documents to be processed before the end of Fiscal Year 2026, please submit all reimbursement documents to the Accounting Office according to the following schedule:

Documents dated September–November 2026: Submit by November 30, 2026.

Documents dated December 1–25, 2026 (including returned documents): Submit by December 25, 2026.
