Center for General Education

 A1 : At the beginning of each semester, the Center issues the latest application timelines and announcements for proposing new courses in the following semester to all teaching units, including colleges, departments, institutes, and academic programs. This information is also published simultaneously on the Center's website.

 A2 : To propose a new General Education course, faculty members must complete and submit the NTU General Education Course Proposal Form. The application must first be approved by the instructor's home department (or institute/academic program) and the department's curriculum committee. Once cleared locally, the proposal, along with the department's reviewed List of New General Education Courses, should be forwarded to the Center's Curriculum Committee for final review. Upon receiving committee approval, the course is officially established within the General Education curriculum.

Notes: If the proposing instructor is a part-time faculty member, a personal resume or a relevant professional portfolio should also be enclosed for the committee's reference.

 A3 : Yes. If a General Education course has not been offered for three or more years, it shall be deemed a new course, and a reapplication must be submitted for review.

 A4 : If an established course undergoes any modifications to its course title, instructor, credit hours, or area of study, it must be resubmitted for review. The application will be processed under the same criteria as a newly established course.

If a course only undergoes changes to its curriculum number or its primary instructor, it may be exempted from a full committee review after approval by the Center. In the case of a faculty change, the new instructor's expertise must align with the course content.
