Center for General Education

 A5 : Following the submission deadline, the Center collects and compiles all NTU General Education Course Proposal Forms forwarded by various departments (or institutes/academic programs) and colleges. These proposals are then distributed to the conveners of each respective General Education area for a preliminary review. Once this stage is complete, the preliminary results are submitted to the Center's Curriculum Committee for final review.

 A6 : All proposals must undergo a sequential review process across multiple administrative levels, including the instructor's home department (or institute/academic program), the home college's curriculum committee, and the General Education area conveners. Given that each college manages its own internal review timelines, the Center's review committee meetings are strategically held toward the end of the semester to ensure all applications can be considered together. Results are published after the conclusion of these sessions. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

 A7 : There are five possible outcomes:

1. Approved.
2. Approved Pending Revision: The proposal is approved on the condition that the instructor revises it as requested in the committee's feedback.
3. Re-submission for Re-review: The instructor must revise the proposal based on the committee's feedback. The updated draft will be re-reviewed by the respective General Education area conveners.
4. Declined with Recommendation for Alternative Listing: The course design does not align with the core objectives of the General Education curriculum, but fits the goals of other curricular frameworks, such as the Communication, Expression, and Career Development course. The committee recommends establishing the course under those alternative frameworks.
5. Declined: The proposal is rejected because the course design does not align with the core objectives of the General Education curriculum or any other curricular frameworks, or because the course design requires significant improvement.

 A8 : Proposals are typically declined under the following three circumstances:

1. The course design requires significant improvement: The teaching plans, class materials, or learning activities listed in the syllabus do not align with the stated course objectives, or they are considered too difficult to accomplish. Or the information provided in the proposal may be insufficient for the committee to properly evaluate course quality.
2. The course design does not align with the objectives of the curriculum: The course content does not match the goals of the selected General Education area. 3. The course fits other curricular frameworks. The course design does not align with the core objectives or philosophy of the General Education curriculum, but matches the goals of other curricular frameworks, such as the Communication, Expression, and Career Development course.
